About Me

My name is Louise Senecal. I’m an artist based in Ottawa, Canada. I work in oil, ink, water-color and coloured pencil. I enjoy experimenting with mixed-medium art and have several pieces mixing ink and water-colour, but I think my favourite medium is coloured pencil. I’d love to paint or draw something for you. Anything from postcards and greeting cards to portraits and ink sketches to full oil-on-canvas frames. Contact me to discuss details.

What is art? This is a question I have been trying to answer for most of my life. I can’t define it for you, but I can attempt to define it for myself. Art is beauty, thought, inspiration, freedom, and strength. It is patience, self-discovery, exploration. It is a vision, an outlet of creation that allows us to simultaneously give and receive. It is an affirmation that there is more to the world. Just as music fills silence, art fills life itself. There is no greater peace than the peace of that comes from self-expression.
